New Fire Station "A Waste of Money"
"A waste of public money" declared Provost D.W. McDonald at Tuesday's meeting
of Bute County Council of the as yet unfinished new fire station at Brodick.
He asked how much the station cost, to be told by County Convener, Mr Donald McKinnon,
that the estimate of £3,700, but that the work was just nearing completion and he thought
there would be £200 or £300 more for amendments.
Said Provost McDonald: "You and I inspected it and I thought then and still do-that
it is a waste of public money"

Brodick Fire Brigade held their first social last Thursday when they organised a whist
drive in the Public Hall in aid of the Fire Brigade benevolent fund. Officer in charge of
the Brigade, Mr William Risk welcomed the company and then handed over to
