Admiralty Fire Service.
Originally a police/fire service set up to protect RN installations in the UK
and worldwide. With the closure of RN Dockyards overseas the service was
disbanded, save for the service in Gibraltar.(1977)
In the UK fire cover
for HM Dockyards became the responsibility of the relevant Local Authority Fire
Brigade. For fire prevention duties (inspections and advisory) the
Navy Department Fire Prevention Service
was founded.
