Cobra
Carmichael Cobra Mark 2 major foam tender is in service at BAA's Scottish airports. The Mark 1 is similar but smaller than the Mark 2 and is 500kg heavier.
The Cobra is 6 x 6 all wheel drive, with a rear mounted Detroit diesel, turbo charged, direct injection water cooled engine. The pump is a Godiva GVB 10,000 single stage centrifugal pump capable of producing 10,0001/min at l6 bar pressure.
The monitor is a Carmichael power assisted Cl0,000 single barrel roof mounted with defuser.
Viper
The Carmichael Viper light foam tender is in service at BAA's Edinburgh and Glasgow airports. It is based on a Scania domestic vehicle although it is much higher due to having all wheel drive in order to meet the requirements laid down in CAP 168.
The tender is fitted with a monitor on the roof capable of delivering 2500lts of foam/water a minute over a distance of 67m. It carries 5400lts water, 650lts foam concentrate, 50kg of BCF and 35kg of dry powder in wheeled trolleys for use in engine and undercarriage fires. It also carries a 5.4m and a l0.5m ladder. Fully laden it weighs 19 tonnes.
Mitsubishi Shogun
The Mitsubishi Shogun is in service at Edinburgh Airport as a command and control vehicle. Call sign Fire 1, and manned by the watch station officer, this vehicle has all terrain drive with Driveline super select four wheel drive system with electronic transfer shift. This is Shogun 3.1 Long Wheel Base diesel automatic.

2004 Young Firefighters Association have C226RSC a Dodge G13C/Alexander Water Tender.

Notes

Edinburgh Airport is a Category 8 airfield. The airport has invested heavily in the training of its 67 personnel through the introduction of CAP699 and its equipment including the purchase of new fire appliances to achieve the requirements of CAP168.
They also take their commitment to the local community very seriously through various work with local charities and groups as well as having the only fully functioning Youth Firefighter Programme up and running at any UK airport.
Advanced communication systems
The airport fire station has appliance bays designed to take six fire fighting appliances, and a control watch room fitted with advanced communication systems. It is located adjacent to the main 06 24 runway and well situated for emergency deployment of all fire appliances to reach all areas within the airfield, in less than three minutes.
There is an office complex within the building as well as a stores room, breathing apparatus maintenance room, crew room and catering facilities. 24 hour manning of the fire station is achieved by four alternating watches, each comprising 14 leading firefighters/ firefighters and two officers conducting a 12 hour tour of duty
The fire ground at Edinburgh has undergone modernisation and at this time comprises a simulated 757 aircraft rig, designed to allow a range of differing fire scenarios ranging from a nose wheel fire to a large scale internal fire scenario.
At the east end of the fire station there is a ladder tower located for domestic fire training and ladder handling.
